Privacy

Scentry is a fragrance collection app and this website. It is operated by [Legal entity name]. That name is a placeholder until the legal entity is formed. Replace it before launch. This page explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We don’t sell your personal information.

Account

Creating an account stores your email address and a password. The password is stored only in hashed form, by our sign-in provider. You sign in with that email and password. We don’t collect your location.

Your collection and shelf

Once you have an account, the app stores what you choose to keep:

  • Bottles on your shelf: the fragrance, size, fill level, whether it is a tester, the price you paid, where you bought it, a batch code, a rating, and private notes.
  • Samples: size, what you paid, the shop, and whether you want to try it, pass, or buy a bottle.
  • Your wishlist.
  • A wear log: which bottle you wore, and when.

Your shelf is private. If a public shelf is turned on for your account, other people can see which fragrances you keep and their sizes. They cannot see what you paid, your notes, batch codes, where you bought a bottle, or your photos.

Photos

You can photograph a bottle or choose one from your camera roll. That photo is stored privately and shown only to you. The camera is also used to read a barcode when you ask it to. We don’t access the camera in the background.

Price alerts

You can ask to be told when a fragrance is at or under a price you choose, for one size or any size. Setting an alert also puts that fragrance on your wishlist. There is one alert per fragrance. The app shows the alert on your shelf and a small mark on Home when a current price meets it. We don’t send marketing with it.

Barcodes

A scan is checked against Scentry’s catalog first. If it isn’t there, the barcode number is sent to Open Beauty Facts, an open product database, to suggest a name. Nothing from that lookup is stored unless you confirm it. A new code is saved as a suggestion for review. It is not written into the catalog, and other people’s scans can’t match it, until a reviewer approves it.

Waitlist

If you join the waitlist on this site, we store your email address and which form you used (for example the top of the page or the closing band). We use it to tell you about early access. We don’t sell the list. To limit abuse we keep a short-lived hash of the network address the signup came from, and delete that hash within a day. We don’t keep the address itself. To leave the list, email hello@getscentry.com.

Fragrance details (Fragella)

Reviewers look up fragrance details from Fragella: a photo, the year, the perfumer, accords, and the notes pyramid. That lookup sends the fragrance’s name, not your email, your shelf, or your photos. Fragella does not receive information about you. What comes back is stored in the shared catalog so every member sees the same checked details. A reviewer can correct those details. A hand edit is kept, and a later lookup does not overwrite it.

Prices, affiliate links, and cookies

Prices come from retailer feeds. When you open a shop from a price, that link may be an affiliate link, including links through an affiliate network such as CJ. Opening it can set cookies on the retailer’s or the network’s site so a later purchase can be attributed to Scentry. Those cookies are theirs, not ours. Scentry may earn a commission. It doesn’t change which price we show first. This website doesn’t set advertising or tracking cookies of its own. The waitlist form doesn’t use them.

Who we share it with

Only the services that run Scentry, and only what they need:

  • Supabase hosts the database, sign-in, and photo storage.
  • Fragella receives a fragrance name when a reviewer looks one up, as described above.
  • Open Beauty Facts receives a barcode number when a scan isn’t already in the catalog.
  • The company that hosts this static website receives the usual connection logs for the pages you request.

We don’t use your data for advertising, and we don’t sell it.

Deleting your account

In the app, Profile, then Delete account, permanently removes your account and everything in it: your shelf, samples, wishlist, wears, price alerts, requests, and the photos you took. You can also ask by emailing hello@getscentry.com. Catalog fragrances you didn’t create stay in the shared library. The waitlist is separate: email us to be removed from it.

California privacy rights

If you live in California, the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended by the CPRA) gives you these rights. We honor them wherever you live.

  • Know and access. You can ask what personal information we have about you, the categories we collected, and who we shared it with. The categories we collect are identifiers (your email), commercial information (prices you paid and price alerts), photos you add, and the collection notes and wear history you enter.
  • Delete. You can delete your account in the app, or ask us to delete the personal information we hold, including a waitlist email.
  • Correct. You can correct your shelf yourself. For anything you can’t edit, email us.
  • Opt out of sale or sharing. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. Affiliate cookies are set by the retailer or network only after you open their link.
  • No discrimination. We won’t deny you the app, or change the price of it, because you exercised these rights.
  • Authorized agent. You may send a request through someone you have authorized in writing. We may ask them, and you, to confirm it.

Email hello@getscentry.com with the subject “California privacy request”. We will confirm we received it and respond within 45 days.

Children

Scentry isn’t intended for anyone under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect information from children.

Changes

If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we’ll update the date above and, for account holders, let you know in the app.
